Water Color Card

June 17, 2012

Hello everyone and Happy Father's Day! I hope it's wonderful for all those dads out there :)
Today I have a card to share with you guys and if you follow my instagram (find my username under the contact me tab at the top of the page under the heading) you would see that I was playing with watercolors again! Check out my previous watercolor card here
Here is my latest creation, I hope you like it.

This lovely card starts off with a base of kraft cardstock. This is an A2 sized card which is 4 1/4" by
5 1/2". The next layer is a piece of white watercolor paper that is 4" by 5 1/4".
For the water coloring portion of the background I used an unnamed brand of watercolors that I got in a RAK from a friend. I used an aqua brush from the now resold addicted to rubber stamping website for the grass and two shades of green.
For the sky portion of the water color portion I used three shades of blue and varying water amounts on my soft tipped paintbrush.

This butterfly stamp is from Martha Stewart and I stamped it in Colorbox Black ink. I punched out a 2" circle before I stamped it onto the water color paper To give the butterfly some color and because my customer wanted bold colors I filled in the wings of this cute butterfly with numerous shades of pinks and reds with as little water as possible to give it the most vibrant shades.
For the background of the butterfly I used the driest version of the watercolor palette I could using my soft tipped paintbrush not my aqua brush.

To finish off the card I put on a sentiment of "Get Well Soon" from a TPC Studio Stamp Set from Joann's. Stamped in the same black Colorbox ink on normal white cardstock. I snipped the edge for a little decorative detail.

That's it! A really simple watercolor card in my opinion. I'm a beginner myself so this was just some play time with paint that turned out well. Thanks for stopping by! Come back soon!
