Friendship Card

August 06, 2015

It often feels as though no one gives cards without an occasion and I am here to change that! How about we try giving more appreciation cards and 'how're you?' cards to spice up and cheer up everyone's day?! Today, I am sharing with you a pretty friendship card I made for one of my friends to send to her while I am at school! (Ps. Move in is in less than 2 weeks!! Wow this summer flew by.)

This card possesses a really unique color combination. I love this orange cardstock paired with the mustard yellow (even though it is totally a fall shade). Who says you can't make fall inspired cards in summer?

As most of my cards are, this one is an A2 size (which is 4 1/4" by 5 1/2"). Then, the next layer is a piece of patterned paper by KI Memories from their Peace & Butterflies 6" by 6" paper pad. I cut it down to 4" by 5 1/4".

The next layer is white cardstock that is mounted on some foam adhesive. I used my Spellbinders Nestabilities Labels One die through my Cuttlebug to get this beautiful shape. After I had it cut out, I used this adorable Hero Arts wood mounted stamp (that I found on clearance at Hobby Lobby!) in some Colorbox Black Pigment Ink. To add a little more color to this card, I used two colored pencils to add green to the leaves and yellow to the center of the flower.

Then, I added some hand stitching around the border of the die cut using a Leplume II Brush Tip Pen in Orange (I used the thin tipped side). An extra tip: Put a little glue on the back of the die you used to cut out your shape and line it up. Then, it is much easier to add stitching on curved shapes! For a final touch to this beautiful card, I added some brown silk ribbon from Joann's.
