DIY Halloween Metallic Cat // Don't buy it, paint it!11:00:00 AM
Hello friends! I hope you're holding up to the cold weather (although we seem to be having a bit of a heat wave!). As things are starting to get more hectic around here (more meetings, more exams, more everything), I find my wanting to craft to become more and more prominent. So, I sat down and created an easy-peasy DIY for you all.
I've been really into painting everything lately (if you couldn't tell), but of course you'll need paint, brushes, a palette (or something to put your paint on), and a surface to be painted. I'm re-purposing the cardboard backing off of a note pad for this project (yeah, go-green!).
The inspiration from this project all stemmed from a t-shirt I saw at WalMart last weekend. It was so cute and simple (I wanted it so bad). So, instead of buying the shirt, I decided I could recreate something like it. Besides, why buy when you can make?! Here's the shirt I took inspiration from:
I mean how cute is that cat?!
To begin the project, you'll want to create a black background. I found that the paint ended up warping the thin cardboard slightly, so you'll either want to put a weight on the center of your piece or you black paper perhaps to create a solid black background. Be sure to give it a good coat if you're using paint! This will ensure that the metallic color will stand out.
After the paint is completely dry, you'll want to lightly sketch out your design in pencil. Lightly sketching out your design will help create a template for where to paint later. Once you're happy with your sketch, grab whatever metallic paint you want and start painting it on.
Here's how it turned out (next to my cat pumpkin)! I'm going to probably frame it and keep it out throughout the season! This is just a really simple and easy (and inexpensive) DIY that can be done for everything, the limits are endless! I hope you enjoyed, please subscribe for more projects!
