Butterfly Explosion Envelope Card // Card Creations

May 25, 2017

I'm still busy hastily unpacking and trying to get my life in order before I start my new job next week. Since my scrap room is still a wreck, well beyond a wreck, I decided to do another throw back project. I created this card last year, but wasn't 100% happy with it. I still like it and would love to try out this style again. I think my biggest problem with how this card turned out was how the envelope wasn't creased properly. I can't remember where I got this envelope, but if I made it, I could do better. Let's jump in to some more details.

I used an A2 sized card base out of white cardstock. Then, I layered a piece of Dear Lizzy 5th and Frolic paper as my front base. I then moved on to the envelope portion. This envelope is made out of kraft cardstock. If you wanted to make a card similar to this, I would recommend a heavier weight cardstock for the little envelope so the score lines are more crisp. I layered the envelope on to a Wilton doily for more added interest.

Next up is the final decorations! I utilized my Martha Stewart multi sized butterfly punch. This is a really great punch to use on scraps which is what I did here. This orange paper is from Pebbles' Garden Party 6x6 paper pad. I cut the various butterflies out and scattered them from the inside of the envelope to  the upper corner of the card. I also used various clear sequins around with the butterflies.

I decided not to add a sentiment to the outside of the card so it stays very versatile. Plus, it is super easy to always use a stamping tool to pop a sentiment in on the inside for whatever occasion is needed! I hope you're all enjoying these throwback posts. I will have three videos up this weekend for you with some new things you haven't seen quite yet! Again, I hope you enjoyed and thanks for stopping by! Hopefully, life gets a little less busy and I can be more crafty soon.
