Today on the Menu YUM - 12X12 Layout Process // Episode Y - Summer of Stories

August 27, 2019

Welcome back, crafty people! Hard to believe that we are already on the very last week of Summer of Stories! We are starting this week off with Episode Y! This one is another challenging one where it takes some thinking to make something work. I decided to go down the path of documenting some food pictures. I generally struggle with these as there's a lot going on in the photos.

I, of course, had to pair some stamping elements in with my embellishments. But you might also notice that there aren't a whole lot of embellishments on this page. I kept it simple since I chose a very busy background as a base. I go over more details in the video below!

If you think of your stamps as cluster elements it may be easier to start incorporating them. They can be treated the same way as die cuts or stickers. They may just take a little bit more planning. I incorporated my stamps as embellishments and as part of my title. How fun is this mixed font title? I like how it tells a story in itself of the vibe of this restaurant we went to.

Whenever I do layouts about food, I like to have a nice spot for journaling since I usually want to include some savory details! I used this label sticker from Heidi Swapp which also brings in more of the mustard color I incorporated on the layout.

To finish off this page I used some enamel dots. This is a relatively simple layout, but I love how it turned out! Let me know what you think too!
